- Main St from Burlington to Hempstead
- Broadway from 4th to B St
- Court St from Burlington to Hempstead
- Briggs from 4th to B St.
2. What about street closures along the route?
Other streets along the route will not be closed. However, law enforcement is highly discouraging vehicle travel “for the safety of the riders and your sanity. Should there be an emergency (for citizens or the riders) emergency vehicles will always be given access”.
- For Liberty Drive and Kirkwood – use caution before proceeding.
- Fillmore, 4th and B – Highly discouraged and likely impassable from 9-2.
- Broadway from 4th to B – Closed
- 4th from Briggs to Burlington – Closed
3. What happens to parking in downtown?
No parking will be allowed in the closed downtown areas starting noon on the 25th. Please plan accordingly. If you have a business downtown, please advise your employees and customers that they will need to park elsewhere and then walk into the downtown. Seek alternate parking options outside of downtown. (Washington Ave is a good alternative) Plan to arrive early to secure parking.
4 . How will emergency services be affected during the event?
Emergency management has a plan in place for weather or accidents, with shelters throughout town. If you have a personal emergency, call 911. Services will be available for you. In the event of an emergency that affects the event, Downtown shelters will be available, located at the Elks, Fairfield Arts & Convention Center, The CoLab, The Fairfield Community Center.
5. What time will riders start arriving, and when will they depart?
Riders will begin arriving around 7 AM on July 26th and the main group will be here between 10 AM - 1:30 PM. All riders will be leaving town no later than 1:30 PM and everyone should be gone by 3 PM.
6. Will residents have access to their driveways and homes during the event?
Yes. However there will be no street parking along the route. Plan now to seek alternative routes as bike traffic will be heavy and at times impassable. Law enforcement will assist with traffic to ensure minimal disruption.
7.Will there be additional portable toilets or trash bins placed around town?
Yes, additional portable toilets and trash bins will be strategically placed downtown to accommodate the increased visitors.
8. Are there opportunities for residents to participate or volunteer during RAGBRAI?
Yes! We welcome volunteers for various roles such as information booth attendants, trash pick-up, traffic control, post-event clean-up, and more. Contact Lindsay at the Chamber to sign up: 641-472-2111.
9. Trash pick up
