Get a glimpse of Fairfield from the past. Come view photos of early Fairfield in the basement gallery of the Carnegie Museum. Brought out of storage for November’s 1st Friday’s Artwalk, these photographs were from the collection of E.U. Peasley (1883 – 1958), a Fairfield merchant who took most of the photos himself. When his son Henry (1921-1966), a Fairfield druggist, purchased the Shriner and Johnson Drug Store (which now houses Village Realty) he had them mounted for display in his drugstore. His mother Mrs. Carrie Peasley (1893-1985), gave them to the library museum about 1979. Last displayed when the library was located in the Carnegie building, the photos show early photos of the town square (1908) businesses, schools, and churches along with people and events.
