“Golden Hour Trout”
Nourishing Environmental Art
“Golden Hour Trout” by Duncan & Carla Brown shows the huge variety of colors and textures in cast iron when photographed during Golden Hour. They are macro photographs of a detail on a cast iron street grating containing an environmental message. Surrounding the bas-relief sculpture of a trout (the subject of these photos) are the words “DUMP NO WASTE” and “DRAINS TO WATERWAYS”. Essentially, these gratings are a plea to the public to take care of the environment around them.
“Wall Flowers”
Irene Murphy Monochrome Flower Paintings
The 25 paintings in the series were created in 2017 and 2018. They are painted in a consistent oil painting style that she developed during that period in a range of blacks, grays and whites.
“I have worked with Irene for many years,” says Irene’s mentor and ICON Director, Bill Teeple. “She focused on flowers as her subject early on and has stuck with it. I was really pleased when she developed this particular look and I have wanted to share this work with the Fairfield audience at ICON ever since she completed the series.”
