Fairfield Light Tower – Bird Magnet
Sat, Jan 19 | 2:00 PM

A FAIRFIELD FIRST: One of the nation’s first municipal electric street lights had Fairfield as its home. It was erected in Fairfield’s Central Park in 1882, only a couple of weeks after installation of Thomas Edison’s experimental electric street lamps in New York City. Come learn about this historic structure and the effect it had on the local bird population. Museum Director, artist Mark Shafer, will share its history and how it inspired his most recent work of art. Participants will have an opportunity to take brush in hand and add their personal touch to this whimsical tribute to birding in Fairfield. This art piece will become part of the bird display in the Museum. This will be a “Come & Go” interactive event. Interested individuals can arrive anytime between 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor.
