Dear FCA members,

An unexpected bonus was announced at last night’s silent movie. Fairfield Concert Association members will be able to buy tickets to the recently added Sondheim concert by Orchestra Iowa at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, for only $10 (by showing your FCA season ticket at the box office) — regular tickets are $20 for adults, and $18 for seniors. This is a fabulous orchestra, and we are so lucky to have them coming here.

If you have not yet bought your FCA season ticket, Jane Rowe will be selling them at a table near the box office at the next concert in our series, Irish flute player Gary Arbuthnot, on Wednesday, October 3, or you may contact her directly at 472-4347. The Orchestra Iowa concert program is as follows:

MOZART Symphony No. 35, “Haffner”

BEAMISH Piano Concerto NO. 3, City Stanzas
Jonathan Biss, piano

HANDEL Music for The Royal Fireworks Overture

BEETHOVEN Piano Concerto No. 1
Jonathan Biss, piano

Orchestra Iowa continues a grand tradition of bringing the highest quality music to the state of Iowa. We engaged over 40,000 individuals during last season. Through educational programs, such as Music In The Schools, Youth Concerts, Fifth Grade Fiddles and Pied Piper Concerts, over 15,000 young people are able to experience quality music every year.

This season we are pleased to bring in high-profile guest artists, like Jonathan Biss, and to be ahead of the curve by featuring music by women composers, like Sally Beamish. We hope you enjoy the performance!
