We are a Middle Eastern restaurant and food truck specializing in authentic, fresh, and made from scratch dishes.

Nisan and Helenee Alva moved to Fairfield from a small kibbutz in Israel a few years ago. Nisan is also the chef at Hungry Camel and has been in the Restaurant and catering business for over 15 years. Mostly preparing steaks at a top steakhouse in Israel. His love for preparing fresh and delicious food shines at Hungry Camel which is serving authentic Middle Eastern street food and comfort food.
The most popular dish is the Falafel in Pita. Falafels are made fresh and are delicious and the pitas are baked in a local bakery. The falafels are truly one of a kind!

We are a husband and wife team who’ve been enterprising in food and other businesses for years.

Chef/Owner Camp is a career chef with 20 + years in the industry. His background is in high-end southern cuisine but also has extensive experience in french technique and most recently before lunchbox headed up an innovative ‘out of the box’ ramen shop. He brings all of that experience to the lunchbox and it shows.

Owner/Business + Marketing Manager Teah is a serial entrepreneur.  She tends to front of house management,  social media, and digital marketing, online presence, brand identity/culture, and when she isn’t doing all that she is operating her two other businesses and mothering two young kids!

There is a level of attention to detail and a passion for excellence in food experiences that will never waiver in our house.

Our vision is to create a special place where our community will gather and make memories over unforgettable food.

Taco Dreams

Serving elevated street tacos and more for take-out and contactless pickup.

People love our Grass-Fed Beef tacos. We get our beef from a local farmer in Douds, IA and you can definitely taste the difference. Its available in two styles: Barbacoa (slow cooked and shredded) and Carne Molida (ground beef) for some variety. We also use their steaks in our Hawaiian Plate Lunch special on Fridays sometimes. We offer vegan options as well!

Our Story;

We’re fairly new to the scene as we opened last November, but so far it’s been an auspicious beginning! I (Emily) am a big fan of regional Mexican cuisine, and over the course of my career I had been developing a menu that would celebrate the artisan street food that I adore. When COVID happened, there seemed to be a need for affordable, high-quality fare that could be accessed in a quick, contact-free environment- so Taco Dreams must have been in the stars!

We’re devoted to elevating working peoples food and having a ton of fun nourishing our community. All the maize tortillas for the tacos are handmade every morning with non-GMO heirloom corn from Oaxaca, and we try and source the rest of our ingredients as local and as organic as possible. We run specials all the time, like a Hawai’ian Plate Lunch every ‘Aloha Friday,’ as well as Tamales and our ‘Maid-Rite’ Tacos (‘The Muscatine’). We’re endeavoring to have something that everyone can feel the love with- from the hardcore foodies to vegans to families just wanting a quick and healthy meal that everyone can agree on!

She recently moved back to the area after living in Vancouver and Aspen. Veraison was designed to create a big city experience in a small town and it certainly delivers. The wine bar specializes in only European wines from natural, organic, biodynamic producers. MIU- Annapurna Dining Hall

An organic, vegetarian, buffet-style cafeteria in the heart of Maharishi University of Management’s campus. Located in the Argiro building, this cafe offers a salad bar, sandwich station, hot entrees and sides, desserts and fresh fruit. Whereas most university foodservice operations rely heavily on pre-prepared and frozen foods, we make our own dishes from fresh ingredients each day.

The university’s organic farm provides some of the produce for campus meals. We can pick the vegetables at the peak of ripeness and serve them the same day. Our organic farm uses Maharishi Vedic Organic agriculture principles. In addition to avoiding toxic chemicals, this approach enlivens the plant’s inner intelligence, so that the vegetables have maximum nutritional value and promote growth in consciousness.

What is our most popular dish?

Our award winning burgers. We use local beef from Adrian Family Farms and each burger is hand formed made to order. We have been named Best Burger in Iowa and mentioned in Spoon University, USA today, Food Network etc. We make our own sauces in house and many of the side dishes and pickles.
What makes us unique??
We take pride in using locally sourced beef, hand forming our patties to order, house making our sides and sauces and keeping our menu small, but consistent and the highest quality possible. Our food pairs perfectly with our wide range of hard ciders that are available on tap. Our ciders range in flavor from dry and tart to sweet and fruity, guaranteed to please any pallet. We offer cider fights so you can sample them all and we have cans to go so you can take some home with you to enjoy. Cider cans are the perfect gift as well so make sure you stock up.

Our Story:

The four founders and owners, Hopi James, Annalisa Thompson, Clint Stephenson and Cole Fishback have been making hard cider together since 2013.  They opened their first downtown location in 2014 (and won best burger in Iowa in 2015) and moved to their current location in 2018. The cidery and restaurant are now located under one roof in a beautiful timber framed taproom. The timber for the building was logged from the owners’ county forest and milled in the parking lot!   The exquisite taproom/restaurant showcases breathtaking views and the patio seating is a dream. It is the perfect view for Iowa’s exquisite sunsets. You can view the cidery through the glass doors and if you’re lucky you can catch the owners in action and sample some of the newest creations. In addition to awesome burgers, Cider house has a full bar featuring  house made cider, top shelf selections of liquors, unique cocktails and so much more.
